Dear Parents,
The ELA test is quickly approaching. We need to do everything within our power to prepare the students for success. With this in mind, we must continue to foster the desire to read by reading with your child daily and having discussions about what they are reading. Help them make connections to real life events to help them get a deeper understanding of the text.
It is with this in mind that they are assigned journal writing and reading daily. Please have them refer to the journal prompt (starters) and the format for the word journal (vocabulary) and help them make meaningful journal entries. If they are not reading, they are wasting time trying to make it look as though they are. Please check your child's journal for comments I have made on how they can improve their journal writing.
Readers are Leaders!
Your child was given another workbook to work on independently, at home. It will be collected weekly. Please make sure they are taking their time and effort to complete the work to the best of their ability. Corrections should be made when they receive the results.
Today's readers, are tomorrow's leaders!
As always, thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Myers
